summer of 2007 will be remembered by Los Angeles
Lakers fans, management and players as one of
discontent. Rightfully so. Wrongfully so. Both.
Really. Are we spoiled? Maybe. As Lakers fans, we have been witnesses to many
fantastic runs of awesome basketball, but given all of
the news reports of player-management turmoil this

In a strange and dramatic twist of fate, Derek Fisher is once again a Laker. On July 20th, Fisher signed a contract of undisclosed terms to rejoin the team on which he became a three-time NBA champion. Fisher was not just a piece of the Championship puzzle from 2000-2002, he was one of the key pieces. We would go so far as to speculate that had he stayed with the Lakers all of these years instead of signing first with Golden State and then with the Utah Jazz, the Lakers transition after the departures of Shaquille O'Neal and Phil Jackson likely would have been smoother and less painful. The Lakers should not have let him get away. The Lakers never should never have made him feel like it was right for him to leave. We Lakers fans cannot blame Fisher for leaving in the first place...
